Timpani Mallet Re-covering
Yes, I can also re-do your timpani mallets. I use German felt and have home-made felt available from a wool-silk blend with longer fibers. Why is this interesting? The regular felt most companies make timpani mallets out of is piano felt. Piano felt wool is cut into tiny pieces before they are machine felted. The shortness of the piano felt fibers is why they fall apart so fast. I make the mallet in the Hinger tradition with the difference of sewing the top, therefore, I can accomodate any bamboo or Hinger style shaft.
Per pair of Timpani mallets: $30.00
$5.00 shipping per order up to 4 pair mallets
$10.00 shipping 5 or more pair mallets
Please specify "German felt" or "longer fiber."
Instructions for tucking calfskin heads
(tambourines and other frame drums)
1. Before starting, sand down the surface on the side edge to
remove all old head and glue.
2. Soak head until pliable, at least four hours, it is not possible
to over-soak a head.
3. Smooth wood glue onto the side edge, try to not get too much
on the bearing edge.
4. Place head on with counter-hoop over the head
5. Smooth head under the counter-hoop until there are no
bumps or folds over and under the bearing edge
6. Don’t overstretch, head should be “bouncy”
7. Place wet paper towel in the center to help the head dry
evenly and slowly

Marimba/Vibraphone Mallet Make-overs!
Marimba/vibraphone mallet make-overs!!! Are your Friedman or Samuels mallets a bit too hard? Has the yarn on your favourite mallets fallen apart?
I can re-make your marimba mallets by adding a layer or two of latex rubber to your core and wrapping them in fine kid(baby) mohair yarn blends. You need to specify if you want a soft or med-hard pair of mallets.
Per pair of mallets: $30.00 (add 5.00 shipping per order)
Mohair color and blend will vary slightly according to availability
